This topic describes the steps required to run the sample applications provided with the UIE SDK.
The start menu item 'Run Samples' will start the UIE SDK Debugger with the 'apprunner.ujml' sample selected. Select a device skin (or accept the default) and click 'OK' on the Selection dialog box. You can now click the
run icon or the
debug icon in the debugger toolbar and run the AppRunner sample application.
AppRunner gives you a list of the sample applications from the UJML Language Reference. You can scroll through the list using up and down arrow keys and choose a sample application using the 'Enter' or 'F2' keys. AppRunner then displays a description of the sample application and allows you to run it using the 'Enter' or 'F2' keys again. Pressing the 'F1' key takes you back to the sample application list.
If you run a sample application, it replaces AppRunner in the Debugger and runs. You can then do whatever actions the sample application allows. To exit the sample application, press the 'F1' key and the AppRunner sample will reload.
There are other samples than those provided by the AppRunner sample application. You can easily run those samples from the UIE debugger by clicking the the start menu item 'Run Samples' and then clicking the browse button for the application URL on the 'Select Application' dialog box. Then navigate to the directory for the sample you want to run and choose the .ujml file.
You can open the samples directory from the start menu item 'View Samples'. This displays the main samples directory containing standalone and client applications. To view server samples, go up one level from the standalone directory and you will see other directories containing JSP and XML Tag Library sample code.
The topic Creating and Deploying contains tutorials that walk you through the process of selecting a sample application and publishing it to a cell phone or a Web applet.
